Universal and Illumination’s Minions & Monsters stole the Independence Day weekend box office with a $16 million Friday from 4,243 North American theaters, on track for a $39.5 million domestic weekend, Variety reports. Overseas, the yellow henchmen are expected to pull in another $87 million, pushing the North American total to roughly $64 million since the July 1 release.
